Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has shared some unconventional advice for young women engaged in commercial sex work, urging them to do it with dignity but avoid making it a permanent career.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Moraya Show, Bello explained that she does not judge women who turn to sex work, acknowledging that many do so out of survival or the need to support their families.
"If what you are doing right now to make a living is being a 'runs girl,' I understand and I never judge," Bello stated. "If you are going to do it, do it well, with respect and with your full chest. However, my darlings, don’t stay there." She emphasized that while it may serve as a temporary means to feed families or pay for tuition, women should not remain in the profession permanently.
In the same interview, Bello also weighed in on the pressure within Nollywood for actors to become film producers. Asserting that she feels no compulsion to produce, she advised her colleagues to stay true to their unique callings.
"I am an actor. Every actor does not have to be a producer. I stay in my lane," she said, adding that she views her household-name status as a divine platform meant for creating a positive impact rather than just chasing industry trends.
