Amusan Wins Paris Diamond League, Equals Season’s Best

Tobi Amusan celebrates Paris Diamond League win.

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan continued her impressive return to form by winning the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League on Sunday, equalling her season’s best time of 12.28 seconds.

The world record holder produced a dominant performance at Stade Charléty, finishing comfortably ahead of American pair Grace Stark, who clocked 12.38 seconds, and Alaysha Johnson, who finished third in 12.39 seconds.

Amusan’s winning time matched the 12.28 seconds she recorded at the Xiamen and Rabat Diamond League meetings earlier this season, marking the third time she has achieved the time in 2026.

The 28-year-old delivered another composed display despite challenging conditions in the French capital. The meeting was held on a revised schedule after a severe heatwave across France forced organisers to cancel all lower-tier youth and regional club events, with track temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius.

After a slower start than Dutch hurdler Nadine Visser, Amusan responded strongly, producing a powerful finish to seize control of the race before the closing stages. She executed a technically sound race over the hurdles, opening up a decisive lead by the halfway mark before cruising to victory.

The triumph was Amusan’s second Diamond League win of the season, following her success in Rabat. She also claimed victory at the New Taipei City Athletics Open earlier this month, further underlining her resurgence.

Having secured a fourth consecutive African title earlier this year, Amusan appears well positioned to qualify for the Diamond League Final. The Nigerian, who won three straight Diamond League titles between 2021 and 2023, will be aiming to reclaim the crown this season.
