| Victoria Inyama, Alex Ekubo |
Popular Nigerian actress Victoria Inyama has reacted to a statement issued by the family of late actor Alex Ekubo, making fresh allegations about events surrounding his illness and medical treatment.
Naija Brain reports that Inyama's comments came in response to a post by a family member, David Ekubo, in which he spoke about the circumstances surrounding the actor's final days.
Reacting via her Instagram page, the actress said she understood how difficult it must have been for David to speak publicly on the issue, adding that she was aware of the efforts he allegedly made to resolve matters privately.
Inyama claimed that during Alex's illness, a prominent Nigerian pastor attempted to provide financial support for his medical treatment but was repeatedly told by those close to the actor that he was doing well.
According to her, the cleric made several attempts to gain access to Alex in order to assist but was consistently prevented from doing so.
She further alleged that the pastor was only informed after Alex had died, despite being willing to fund medical treatment anywhere in the world.
The actress stressed that the cleric was not offering spiritual intervention but practical financial assistance, insisting that more treatment options could have been explored.
She wrote: “@davidekubo I know how difficult it was for you to come here….I know how far you went for a dialogue……this may not be the best but that’s fine……..without mentioning names….one of the biggest/Kindest Pastor in Nigeria tried to help but was always told by Her that Alex is Fine!
“D Pastor pushed to get access but was always blocked…..If that Pastor was allowed access, whatever it would cost in this world, we would have all rallied round Abroad……. The Pastor was not even told when Alex was in hospital, he was only called when Alex died….bear in mind that the Pastor was not offering ‘miracle’; he is very practical and was ready to foot any medical bill anywhere in the world…..any genuine mother would accept help to try anything and everything……that’s the part that hurts me……cancer has multiple treatment options these days but it’s all good. Nnam biko just remember Dède is very vulnerable now.”
Her remarks followed allegations by Alex Ekubo's family that his stepmother prevented relatives and well-wishers from having access to the actor during his illness and only contacted them after his death.
