Popular Nigerian musician Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, known professionally as Skales, has publicly declared his intention to boycott the 2027 general elections, citing a profound lack of trust in the country's political leadership.
The "Shake Body" crooner voiced his frustrations in a series of posts on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where he lambasted the current crop of politicians and expressed disillusionment with the political system.
According to reports by Naija Brain, Skales stated that none of the prospective candidates on the political scene have demonstrated the credibility or genuine commitment required to steer Nigeria toward meaningful progress.
"To be honest, [there is] none. I won't be voting [for] anyone in 2027," the singer wrote, unedited. "I don’t see any good candidate that can take this country to a better place. I ain’t seen no candidate worth my vote. I do not believe or trust any of these politicians."
The artist further argued that the nation's governance woes stem from a reliance on "recycled" leaders who have repeatedly failed to deliver on their promises. He called for a complete overhaul of the political landscape, advocating for a shift toward younger, more innovative visionaries.
"We need a fresh set of politicians, visionaries—not recycled ones that have shown time after time that they ain’t got this figured out," Skales added. "We need younger politicians with vision, innovation, etc., not all this we have now."
Skales' public stance reflects a broader, ongoing debate across Nigeria regarding youth political participation, voter apathy, and the demand for systemic political reform ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
