Ycee Reveals Why He Took Break From Music

Popular Nigerian rapper and singer, Oludemilade Martin Alejo, widely known as YCee, has opened up about his prolonged absence from the music scene, revealing that the hiatus was a deliberate period of self-reflection and personal growth.

Speaking during a recent livestream session with content creator Carter Efe, the Jagaban crooner explained that he stepped away from the spotlight to re-evaluate his life and map out a clearer direction for his future.

"I have been on the mountain. I went on a journey of self-discovery. But I am back," YCee stated, confirming his return to the industry.

The artist also shed light on the origins of his famous moniker, "Omo Alhaji," explaining that it was inspired by his father’s Islamic background, though he clarified that he does not practice the faith. Instead, the singer noted that his personal philosophy is rooted in love as his ultimate guiding principle.

Prior to his hiatus, YCee was a dominant force in the Nigerian music industry, scoring nationwide hits with chart-topping tracks such as Jagaban, Juice, and Omo Alhaji.

Ruger Pauses Music Career Amid Legal Dispute

In a separate development in the music industry, contemporary Nigerian singer Michael Adebayo, professionally known as Ruger, has temporarily stepped away from his musical activities.

According to a statement released on Thursday by his record label, the Bounce singer’s sudden absence is tied to an ongoing legal battle involving his former girlfriend. The management team indicated that the legal proceedings have required the artist's full attention, forcing a temporary halt to his regular recording and promotional schedules.
