IF WISHES WERE HORSES

If wishes were horses,
the poor would ride,
Through valleys of hope
with the wind as their guide.
No dream would be distant,
no heart left behind,
For every desire
would answer the mind.

If wishes were horses,
we'd saddle the moon,
And ride through the darkness
to morning too soon.
We'd gallop past sorrow,
outrun every tear,
And carry our dreams
where they could conquer fear.

If wishes were horses,
the hungry would feast,
The broken would heal,
and the lonely find peace.
A mother would wish
for her child's brighter days,
A father for strength
through life's difficult maze.

If wishes were horses,
the world would be still—
No war in the streets,
no blood on the hill.
The rich would have mercy,
the powerful care,
And those without voices
would finally be heard there.

But wishes are wishes,
and horses don't grow
From words we keep speaking
but never pursue.
A dream needs a rider,
a heart needs to strive;
For wishing alone
cannot make dreams alive.

So saddle your courage,
and mount your belief.
Let action be stronger
than longing or grief.
Dream boldly, keep moving,
though storms block your way—
For wishes may promise,
but work makes them stay.

If wishes were horses,
we'd all ride with pride;
But since wishes are wishes,
let faith be our stride.
And wherever our dreams
may call us to go,
Let courage lead forward—
and never let go.
